Descent Version 1.0/1.1/1.2
Dip Switches: 3,5,8 DOWN (ON)
To make changes to your modem configuration, start up Descent and enter the "multiplayer" configuration section.
| CHANGE PORT: | Select "Modem/Serial Game..." under the multiplayer dialog box. Then pick the COM Port that matches the settings for your modem. |
| CHANGE IRQ: | This is found in the "Modem/Serial Game..." section. Click on "Custom" and change the IRQ settings as needed. The IRQ setting option is only available in version 1.1 and above. |
| INIT STRING: | Go to the Init String section of the "Modem/Serial Game..." screen. Change the Init String to "AT&F1". |
| Note: | We have found a few communication related problems with earlier versions of Descent. They are as follows:
- In version 1.0, you are unable to configure the IRQ settings.
- Before version 1.1, there were problems with the port settings.
- In a Windows DOS shell, setting a port rate of 38400 will not work correctly. You can only select 19200 as a valid port rate. This seems to have been fixed in later revisions of the program.
