FAXstf v2.6.1/v3.0 for Macintosh:
DIP Switches: 1, 3, 5, and 8 DOWN(ON)

Open the Chooser, and select the “FaxPrint” icon. If your modem is plugged into the “Modem Port”, make sure the “Modem Port” radio button is selected. If the modem is plugged into the “Printer Port”, make sure the “Printer Port” radio button is selected. Next click the “SETUP” button, then click on the “Modem Init” icon. Erase the old init string and enter the following: AT&FEQV&H2&I2S7=90.

Note: If the software will not let you change the init string, click on “OK” and select the “Fax Software” icon. The option on the top right hand side is “Fax Software”. Make sure it is set to “ON”.

COMPATIBILITY

Older Macs can use v2.2.5 or above.

Mac Centris-AV and Quadras should use v2.6.1 or above.

Power Pc/Power Mac owners can use FAXstf v2.6.1, only if Virtual Memory is OFF.

Virtual memory is turned off by going into the control panel, then memory options, and then moving the radio button for virtual memory to the OFF position.

Troubleshooting Tips

CANNOT TURN FAX SOFTWARE “ON”
If the fax software will not load, chances are either the modem is turned off, or another program is using the COM Port. Examples of this would be if America On-line, Appletalk, or Remote Access are running. Other possibilities are that you may have the wrong cable for your computer, or there may be an extension interfering with the operation of the fax software or fax modem. Try rebooting the Macintosh while holding down the “Shift” key. This will load the machine with extensions disabled.

RECEIVING AN ERROR MESSAGE THAT THE MODEM CANNOT INITIALIZE W/FAXstf V2.6.1
Download “FIXCOUR.SEA”. The file is a self extracting archive which will automatically install itself when run.
