To use your U.S. Robotoics modem in an EISA bus slot, you need to select the "Generic ISA Adaptor" definition for our modems. Below are the instructions recommended by Compaq for doing this on their systems:
- Select "Configure Computer"(Check your system manual for instructions on where to find this on your system)
- Select "Add/Remove" boards
- Highlight the slot the ISA card is using and press ENTER
- There will be a menu with these selections:
- Compaq card
- Non-Compaq card
- Board without a configuration file
- Select "Board without a configuration file"
- Insert "Non-Compaq Options Diskette"(Check with Compaq if you do not have one) when prompted to do so.
- Select "Generic ISA Adapter Definition"
- Verify that you've selected the right slot and press ENTER.
- Press <F10> for done.
- Select View or Edit details from the menu. You'll see a summary of the system
configuration including the slot that was just configured
- Highlight and configure the Port Base Address(es), Address ranges, IRQs, and
so forth.
- Press <F10> when done and select Save and Exit.
- The machine will reboot and the ISA card will be available.
If this installation will be done on a non-Compaq system, the procedure may vary, but should be similar.
