The 005690-00 and 002884-00 modems can currently only be installed as data-fax modems.
To install the following modems:
568603, 568903, 83909
1. Attach and turn on the external modem before starting the computer.
2. Click Start; point to Settings; click Control Panel then double-click System.
3. Click the Hardware tab; click Device Manager.
4. Click + (the plus) beside Modems; right-click Standard Modem; click Properties.
NOTE If a Standard Modem is not listed under Modems, or if no modem is listed, right-click Computer then click Scan for Hardware Changes.
5. Click the Driver tab in the "Standard Modem Properties" window and click Update Driver.
6. Click Next in the Upgrade Device Driver wizard.
7. Check "Display a list of the known drivers for this device so that I can choose a specific driver"; click Next.
8. Check "Show all hardware of this device class"; Select 3Com in the manufacturers list. Select USRobotics 56K FAX EXT from the models list; click Next.
9. Click YES on the "Update Driver Warning" screen.
10. Click Next, then click Finish.
To Install the 5610 modem in Windows 2000
1. Turn off the computer.
2. Install the 5610 modem into an available PCI slot.
3. Turn on the computer.
4. The Found New Hardware wizard will appear.
5. Click Next.
6. Ensure that "Search for a suitable driver..." is checked.
7. Click Next.
8. Confirm that only Floppy is checked.
9. Insert the modem installation diskette provided with the modem.
10. Click Next. Windows will identify the 3cpcim.inf file.
11. Click Next.
12. Windows will display a "Digital Signature Not Found Warning".
13. Click Yes to accept the driver.
14. Click Finish.
To Install the 2605 voice modem in Windows 2000 on the USB port.
1. Enter terminal mode and type "ati 7" to check the code date.
NOTE: If the modem has code earlier than 11/17/98, install the modem as a serial modem and download 2605usb.exe from http://consumer.3com.com/voice/inf/index.html.
Double-click 2605usb.exe to download the files to the hard drive; double-click 00260500.exe to update the modem code.
2. Turn the computer off.
3. Plug the USB cable in the computer and modem and turn the modem on. Start Windows 2000.
4. The Found New Hardware wizard will appear.
5. Click Next.
6. Select "Display a list of the known drivers for this device so that I can choose a specific driver".
7. Click Next.
8. Select Modems and click Next.
9. Select 3Com as the manufacturer and select USRobotics 56K Voice Faxmodem USB as the model.
10. Click Next.
11. Microsoft gives a warning screen that this is not the proper device driver for this modem. Click Yes to accept the driver.
12. Click Next to start the install. Click Finish to complete the installation.
To Install the 5605 voice modem in Windows 2000
1. Enter terminal mode and type "ati 7" to check the code date.

4. Windows will find new hardware - USRobotics 56000 Voice USB modem and the Found New Hardware wizard will appear.
5. Click Next.
6. Select "Display a list of the known drivers for this device so that I can choose a specific driver".

8. Select Modems and click Next.
9. Select 3Com as the manufacturer and select USRobotics 56K Voice Faxmodem USB as the model.
10. Click Next.
11. Microsoft gives a warning screen that this is not the proper device driver for this modem. Click Yes to accept the driver.
12. Click Next to start the install. Click Finish to complete the installation.
To Install the 5613 Gaming Modem In Windows 2000
1. Turn off the computer.
2. Install the 5613 modem into an available PCI slot.
3. Turn on the computer.
4. The Found New Hardware Wizard will appear.
5. Click Next.
6. Ensure that "Search for a suitable driver..." is checked.
7. Click Next.
8. Confirm that only CD is checked.
9. Insert the installation CD provided with the modem.
10. Click Next. Windows will identify the 3cpcim.inf file.
11. Click Next.
12. Windows will display a "Digital Signature Not Found Warning".
13. Click Yes to accept the driver.
14. Click Finish.
Note: The Gaming Tray Icon does not install in Windows 2000. It can be manually installed by copying the gmtray.exe and gmtray.wav files to a directory on your hard disk and then creating a shortcut in your Startup folder.
